Module One
DAY ONE – political and influencing skills
Corporate politics - putting organizational politics into context; what is it and why we need to be good at it. The importance of trust and collaborative behaviour in achieving win-win outcomes.
Personality types - understanding your own personality type and how it differs from that of others. Valuing and appreciating difference and how to communicate with, and be sensitive to, the needs of others.
Influencing styles - learning how to tailor your communication to the preferred “language” of the receiver; how to engage and build rapport with your audience.
Recognising type in others - practical experience in “reading” other people. How to identify their personality type through a short everyday discussion.
DAY TWO – leadership and teamwork
Models of leadership - a brief overview of the research into leadership and the insights/lessons to be gained from evolutionary psychology. A review of the top 10 leadership issues and how these have changed or remained stable over the last 20 years.
A new mindset - inspirational leaders have a vision of the future; the passion and enthusiasm to inspire others; the courage to take risks and challenge accepted wisdom; whilst also possessing the empathy to exercise consideration and compassion in their dealings with individuals. These four aspects form the basis of inspirational leadership and hence this day on leadership and teamwork.
Leadership and motivation - the characteristic leadership strengths and potential weaknesses of each of the types; how to maximise your own potential, develop your own unique leadership style and motivate the different types.
Team dynamics - understanding team dynamics, the potential synergies and clashes within a team and how to get people with dissimilar thinking styles to work together positively and constructively.
Dealing with stress - how each of the personality types responds to stress and pressure, how to recognise the symptoms of stress in both self and others, and how to deal with people when tensions are mounting.
Developing the other side of your personality - how to develop the non preferred aspects of your personality and in so doing become a more rounded individual with the ability to flex and adapt your style to suit any situation.
Developing a sense of urgency - change is a constant in today’s world; why do people resist change, how do we respond emotionally to change and what, as leaders, can we do to help others through the change cycle.
Module Two
DAY THREE – understanding organisational behaviour and the motives that underpin that behaviour
Demystifying the behaviour of others - why do we immediately warm to some people whilst others leave us cold? Gain a deeper understanding of your relationships with others and insights into their motives and personal agendas.
Team values - what values do you believe should drive your team/organization into the future? How to ensure these values are genuinely reflected in the behaviour of your people rather than remaining merely words on a wall plaque or a mug.
Organizational culture - a tool to help make sense of organizational culture and group dynamics; what needs to change and what is important to hang on to and retain. What are the areas of uncomfortable debate and how can you invoke cultural change?
DAY FOUR – relationships, self analysis & action planning
Interpersonal relationships - understanding how we behave towards other people; how we would wish others to behave towards us and what impressions we create.
Understanding customers/clients - what is really important to them, how they measure and judge you and what you would need to do in order to truly delight them.
Adding another dimension to personality type - an expansion of the theory of personality type introduced during the first module. Each participant receives a personalised 22 page report as an aid to self reflection and analysis.
Personal portraits - building a personal portrait through the understanding gained during the workshop and creating a personal development plan. What you need to start doing, stop doing and continue doing.
One on one session - each participant will have the opportunity to receive one on one feedback regarding their own personalise report and also guidance on their leadership journey.
